Privacy policy

The short version. Postling runs on your Mac. Your emails, your Google sign-in and everything the app learns stay on your Mac. ComunAI does not receive, store or see your email. We don't sell data, show ads, or let anyone read your mail.

1. Who we are

Postling is a macOS app published by ComunAI Ltd ("ComunAI", "we"), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17081930, registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. This policy covers the Postling app and this website.

2. What the app accesses

When you connect Gmail, you grant Postling the Google permission gmail.modify. The app uses it only to:

  • read your messages and their attachments, to sort them and write your briefing;
  • add and remove Postling's own labels, archive messages and mark them as read (it never deletes messages);
  • send your briefing email from your account to you, and to anyone you choose to add as a recipient;
  • read changes you make to labels, so it can learn from your corrections.

If you turn on calendar dates, Postling adds events to your Mac's calendar using the macOS calendar permission, which you can withdraw in System Settings.

3. Where your data is processed and stored

  • All processing happens on your Mac, using Apple's on-device model and Postling's own local model.
  • Email content, classifications, your corrections and settings are stored in the app's folder on your Mac. Your Google permission is stored in the macOS Keychain.
  • No Gmail data is sent to, or stored on, ComunAI servers or any other server. Postling has no server component.

4. AI and machine learning

  • Postling learns from your own email and corrections to personalise how it sorts your mail. That model runs only on your Mac and is used only for you.
  • We do not use Google user data to develop, improve or train generalised or non-personalised AI or machine-learning models, and we do not transfer it for that purpose.

5. Google API Services: Limited Use

Postling's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Sharing

We do not share your data. Email leaves your Mac only when you ask it to: your briefing is sent to the recipients you choose.

7. People reading your data

No one at ComunAI can read your email, because it never reaches us. If you contact support and choose to share specific messages with us, we will use them only to help you, and only with your explicit agreement.

8. Your control

  • Disconnect (Settings → Engine & privacy) revokes Postling's access at Google and removes the stored permission. You can also revoke access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
  • Delete all local data (same screen) removes everything Postling stored on your Mac. Because nothing is held on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete.
  • Labels Postling added to your Gmail remain until you remove them. The app never deletes your messages.

9. This website

  • We measure visits with Plausible Analytics, which is cookieless, EU-hosted and collects no personal data. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
  • If you join the beta, the name, email address and answers you give are sent to us through Formspree and kept only to send your invite and launch news. Ask us at any time to delete them.

10. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights to access, correct, delete and port your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. Because Postling keeps your data on your own device, you can exercise most of these directly in the app. For anything else, contact us. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

11. Children

Postling is not intended for anyone under 16.

12. Changes and contact

We will post any changes on this page with a new date. Questions: privacy@postling.app.
